Ontario Science Centre Microsite

The Ontario Science Centre is one of Canada’s most visited cultural attractions; entertaining over one million visitors every year. The center has several hundred interactive and passive exhibits that feature everything in science and nature. Famous around the world for it’s hands on approach to science, it has been a model for other famous science museums, most notably San Francisco’s Exploratorium and Detroit’s Museum of Science and Technology.

When I was first approached to create a micro site based on the centre’s Lizards and Snakes Alive exhibit (featured at the centre in late 2009), I knew that I had a great opportunity to be in direct contact with today’s tech savvy youth. The Science Centre’s main cliental are parents with children aged 6-13 with the understanding that parents (for information) and kids (for entertainment) would both be visiting the site regularly.

Working along side the creative directors at Naked Creative Consultancy, a colourful and playful site mock up was produced that perfectly captures the exhibits look and feel while keeping a hometown vibe to it. I also produced a mini flash game for the Facts page to add some interactivity to the presentation.
